Job Title: Senior Machine Learning Research Engineer
Type: Full-Time – Direct Hire
Start: Targeting October 2025
Location: Remote (U.S.-based)
Compensation: Up to $180K + Benefits
We’re seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer who operates at a research-grade level — someone who creates new machine learning methods, contributes original research, and translates that work into production systems.
This role sits within a deeply technical R&D environment focused on unstructured data, advanced modeling, and defensible intellectual property. If you’ve authored peer-reviewed research, contributed to patented work, or led original ML innovation that’s been deployed — this role is aligned.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Architect and scale machine learning systems for unstructured and multimodal data, including classification, clustering, representation learning, and contextual understanding
- Design and extend novel ML architectures in areas such as NLP, generative models, and agentic or reasoning-based systems
- Own the full ML lifecycle — research, experimentation, validation, MLOps, and production deployment
- Translate original research into production-grade systems with measurable impact
- Collaborate with senior researchers and engineers to develop intellectual property, including patents or internal research artifacts
- Author or contribute to research documentation, technical papers, and internal whitepapers
- Influence long-term R&D direction through first-principles thinking and experimentation
Must-Haves (Non-Negotiable):
- PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field
- 5+ years of experience working on research-level or applied ML problems post-PhD
- Demonstrated proof of original innovation — e.g., peer-reviewed publications, patents, or externally validated research contributions
- Deep experience with modern ML architectures (e.g., Transformers, generative models, representation learning)
- Strong proficiency in Python and at least one systems language (C++ or Java)
- Proven ability to take research concepts from theory → experimentation → production
You’ll Stand Out If You…
- Have authored or co-authored patents or highly cited research papers
- Have experience in research labs, advanced R&D teams, or deep-tech environments
- Have created new datasets, benchmarks, or evaluation methodologies
- Have demonstrated long-term ownership of complex ML systems
- Thrive in ambiguous problem spaces where solutions must be invented, not assembled
This is a full-time role with competitive compensation and benefits.
